Follow-up and Homework from Gathering 4
It was good to be together last weekend! Some of you were deeply impacted by the experiential stations while others found it more difficult to hear God speak – and that’s OK! I want to remind you that this is a Journey, and some months will feel very fruitful while others seem less so. Be patient, stay engaged, and trust that God is at work, even when you can’t see it.
If you weren’t able to make it, or if you would like to review the teaching, you can find it here. This is last year’s video, but the content follows the same outline. You can also view the handouts by clicking here.
As far as homework, I want to encourage you to stay with the ten minutes of silence each day. I know this can feel unproductive, but slowing down to be quiet and present in the moment is so important when it comes to spiritual growth. You can find the Immanuel Journaling exercise by clicking here. Doing this, or the Listening Exercise once a week can be a helpful way to grow in your ability to hear God’s voice. Our corporate practice is on Wednesday mornings at 6:30 in the library and you are always welcome to join us. Each week is a stand-alone, so first timers are always welcome.
Finally, in preparation for next month, take the time to read The Gift of Being Yourself by David Benner. If you are not a reader, try listening to it as an audiobook. Even if you don’t get through the whole thing, I want to challenge you give it a try. Those who do generally find the gatherings more productive. At the same time, I don’t want this to deter you from attending. Just showing with a willing heart is perfectly acceptable!
As always, if you have questions or want further conversation, reach out to your small group facilitator, or I would be glad to talk with you as well.
